Film & Cultural Events
The Film and Culture section keeps offering the framework to reflect upon the creative processes involved in filmmaking.
In previous years the Film and Culture section has contributed to the particular character of the DLAFF, by enhancing our enjoyment of Latin American film. We have accomplished this by having a closer and analytical look at the audiovisual works of the region. And 2010 wasn't different. We offered the opportunity to watch a trilogy of films by Julian Hernandez, an iconic figure of Latin American gay cinema. We joined the commemoration of Spanish American independences with a special double-bill including a silent treasure from the archives fantastically accompanied by pianist Neil Brand. We shared a revision of recent trends in Latin American Cinema, in conversation with Mexican director Patricia Riggen at our Tate Modern event. A rare screening of Carlos Reygadas’ shorts benefited from the commentary by and discussion with Jason Wood. All in all, we hoped to open as many doors possible into Latin American cinema and culture.
Keep an eye for the DLAFF 2012!
