8th Discovering Latin American Film Festival
(26th November - 06th December 2009)
Latin American cinema shares with European cinema the need to construct national and cultural identity. Historically, these two geographies have attempted to create self-sufficient markets; within this framework, all kinds of protective and incentive measures have been implemented. However, in the spring of the currently highly multiethnic and transnational societies, unexplored film talents and markets are still waiting to be cultivated. In London, for instance, there is not currently an established space whereby Latin American filmmakers and scriptwriters meet European and, in particular, British producers. This space for film negotiation is needed in London; given that London is today the city with the biggest Spanish and Portuguese speaking population outside Iberia and the Americas.
The 8th Discovering Latin American Film Festival introduces for the first time a space that will function as a meeting point to propel agreements between, mainly but not exclusively, Latin American and European film industry professionals.
If you are a Latin American filmmaker and/or a film scriptwriter with a good story to show to Producers by November of this year, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
If you are a Producer from any part of the world interested to hear from Latin American film professionals either based in the UK or in Latin America, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!
WATCH OUT FOR MORE INFO!
