Film & Culture Events

This year's Film and Culture Section is pleased to include a variety of events for diverse members of the public. As part of the festival's effort to attract new audiences, this section will this year feature events on Latin American visual culture. As an initiative for photographers and those passionate about still images, there will be an exhibition on the experience of film in Latin America, at the Ritzy Cinema. Media people and music lovers will have the opportunity to get firsthand knowledge and enjoyment of the Cuban music video industry, at the ICA. In the realm of film, there will also be a chance to reflect on the relation between cinema and music, with the talk at the masterclass by composer Mariano Nuñez West.

Film and Culture's core event will again take place at Tate Modern with the presence of the Argentine director Lucrecia Martel. We are delighted to have the UK premier of La mujer sin cabeza (The Headless Woman), followed by an extended conversation with Lucrecia, together with an audience Q&A. This, together with a retrospective of Lucrecia's films, will not only enable the festival audience to revisit her work on the big screen, but will also permit the London based public to appreciate just why Lucrecia Martel is known as a remarkable filmmaker in Latin America and beyond.
