Short films continue to form an important part of our festival programme; through their amazing creativity and diversity we see both the emergence of exciting new talent and the consolidation of accomplished film makers.
This year we offer a thematically varied programme of some of the best recent short films from Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Brazil - including cutting edge mixtures of animation, sfx and real action such as 'Rojo Red', the wonderfully creepy and original stop motion animation 'Lucia', and the award winning short features, 'Paradise Cafe', 'Watching it Rain' (Golden Palm award, Cannes, 2007), and 'Flash Lesson'.
As well as the chance to see a selection of these shorts screened with features from the main film programme, lovers of the short film format will this year be able to enjoy a complete programme of these shorts all together in a single screening.
