Become a Volunteer

Discovering Latin America, relies exclusively on the work of its volunteers to carry out its mission and objecitives. If you are a Latin American living in London or if you have an interest in Latin America, its culture, its people or its language, we want to invite you to be part of our team of volunteers.

Being a volunteer can deliver a wealth of benefits: Self-worth, great fun, friendships and job opportunities can all be part of getting involved with us. DLA may be an outlet for your natural talents, a road-test for your new career, or simply a handy way to meet new friends and share your experiences.

There are several areas in where volunteers can help; this might be related to the running of our organisation or the various events and festivals that we organise. We want to match your interests and skills to the positions available throughout the organisation. It’s your choice. Your commitment to a particular position depends entirely upon your circumstances, interest and the length of time your position is available for. You can contribuite to DLA at any time of the week, day or night. You can voulnteer at evenings and weekends, depending on what you want to do.

There are many ways of getting involved such as running your own project, organising a fundraising event, contribute in the different festivals we run every year or helping in the day to day running of the operations of DLA.

Everybody can apply, we will ask you to send us your CV and covering letter with the area of your interest, your experience and qualifications so we can place you in the most suitable role. We also advertise placements where specific skills and qualifications are needed. Opportunities for you to learn and gain experience in the area you wish to get involved in are always available. We will then call you for an interview to give us both the chance to assess each other and get to meet people you will be working with.

If you are ready to be a DLA volunteer, send us an e-mail. We would also like to invite you to check the list of positions currently available and apply if you feel you will be able to make a contribution.
