Bicentenary of Latin American Independence Festival
DLA Rhythms brings you a day and night of performances and workshops; the centrepiece of DLA's bicentennial Celebrations of Independence in London.
On Saturday 14th of August, Rhythms will celebrate the independence of Latin America by presenting an exciting array of artists and performers from the furthest reaches of Latin America, reflecting the cross-pollination of indigenous, African, Spanish and European cultures which have made Latin America a melting pot of unparalleled richness.
Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Chile and Venezuela will be represented by an amazing selection of performers to celebrate the bicentenary.
The day will bring you a programme of dance, song, dance-related films and talks as well as workshops for children* and adults. The evening will feature a selection of quality Latin American musical acts, to make sure you're well and truly spoilt for choice.
And of course, no Latin event would be complete without generous servings of hearty comida, with choices from countries across Latin America to keep you fortified until the witching hour.
As ever, all proceeds will go towards a charitable project. This time we support a scheme that aims to improve life for women working in sweatshops in Honduras. The project will improve their living conditions and livelihoods through education, building their capabilities and empowering them to exercise their rights through the charity War on Want.
