Rhythms Programme
The Rhythms programme for 2010 started with an event focused on the celebration of the 200 years of Independence in Latin America.
On Saturday 14th
August, Rhythms hosted their biggest event of the year so far at Rich Mix. The Rhythms team organise this event in
support of War on Want in Guatemala,
the project that we supported aims to offer a better life
for female sweatshop workers and to improve living conditions and
livelihoods of female garment workers by educating, building their capacities
and empowering these workers to exercise their rights, enabling them to defend
their rights, face policy makers, employers and multinational retailers.
The project wants to review occupational and
health labour legislation, provide legal and medical advice in case of work
accidents and train women workers in labour rights workshops. It will directly
benefit 6000 women workers and on a secondary basis 130.000 people.
We are glad to announce that the event was a
success and the Rhythms team thanks to your participation raised £1400!! Well done team!
