An introductory lecture-demonstration of a range of pre-Hispanic wind and percussion instruments from Mexico, supported by images from ancient Mexican codices; the talk will explore the contexts in which music was used in Aztec/Mexica times, and will allow for some audience participation. Suitable for all ages.
The Performer
Ian is co-Founding Director of the long-established professional teaching team Mexicolore, that has worked in over 2,000 schools and museums throughout England since 1980. He has led many Aztec music-based workshops at the British Museum, including in support of the recent major exhibition on Moctezuma
