Totó la Momposina

WOW! What a night! Thank you everyone who came down to Cargo on Thursday for Totó La Momposina’s concert. We had a packed audience for the documentary “La Colombiana”, a warm and interesting Q&A session and what we can say, an unbelievable concert after that.

It was a unique experience to see Totó playing on stage with her daughter and all her UK based grandchildren, the youngest being only 18 months. She played several songs from her new album “La Bodega” – coming out on 12/10 – as well as treating us to some of her best-known hits, like “La candela viva”.

The documentary clearly transmitted her love for music, her country and her family; it was really inspiring to see how she is keeping her heritage alive as a “cantadora” through her family. What else is there to say, it was an honour to be able to see her in such an intimate venue, experience her energy and getting to know her through her warm and charming responses to people's questions. A special thanks to DJ Russ Jones, who kept us on the dance floor with his Arriba la Cumbia until late.

All I can say for now is get ready for El Dia de los Muertos/the Day of the Dead.
